Simply waving a key card to the lock reader
RFID system offers easy operation for
even elderly or handicapped people.
Sequence of a key card data
With waving a newly issued key card to the lock reader for unlocking, the lock recognizes the new card as a valid, and makes the previous key card as invalid one.
Strongly encrypted key card data
Key card data is encrypted by MIWA’s original algorithm.
Also the encoded sectors in Mifare card are securely locked, which frustrates attempts to decrypt, alter or copy the key card data.
Smartphone as a room key (Type ALVB only)
To use a smartphone as a key, launch a special app, tap the unlock button and wave the phone over the lock.(Only a guest’s mobile can be used.) Theappcanbe downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play.
LED lighting
When a valid card is waved to the lock, green light turns on to show the card lock has been unlocked. When an invalid card is used, or a malfunction has occurred, red light turns on to show error.
Unlocking sound available
An unlocking sound can be set for the benefit of the visually impaired or elderly guests.
(The option can be set when a guest card is issued.)
Customers’privacy
When a thumb-turn is turned from inside to double-lock the door, neither a sub-master nor master card can open the door until checkout time. This is to protect customer privacy.
Emergency card
Emergency card keeps all locks as unlocked status, even
double-locked, in case of emergency.
Anti-panic function from inside
Turning the inside lever handle unlocks a door without
having to turn a thumbturn.
Fixed inside lever handle (Option)
The inside lever handle is always fixed unless a button
on the inside lever is pressed while turning it. This feature
provides even greater security. Pressing a button while
turning the lever handle also unlocks a double-locked door (anti-panic function).
4 AA alkaline batteries operation
ALV2 card lock is operated by 4 AA batteries whose
average life time is 18 months. When batteries are nearly
flat, only sub-master card users such as house maids see
blinking green LED light to urge to change the batteries
while they unlock the doors. Even in the case, customers are still able to use their key cards without inconvenience.
Upgrade Path
Whether your property is large or small the cost of a new
locking system is still substantial and at Miwa we take this very seriously, we build systems that last. With this in mind we also realize that technology changes and advances this is why we have built a new system that can be used to upgrade our existing AL5H locks without the need to replace everything. The new ALV2-P type front escutcheons retro fit directly onto the existing lock case.
Upgrading from AL5H to ALV2-P can be done by simply
replacing the outside escutcheon and reader.
NFC chip for future function extensibility
ALV2 card lock is equipped with an NFC chip. This is to
allow use with future mobile devices equipped with NFC
communication functions.
(*“NFC”stands for“Near Field Communication,”the international standard for lowelectric-
power, wireless technology applicable over distances of a few centimeters.)
Audit trail
ALV2 card lock saves up to the last 600 transactions and
last 100 error incidents. Data are uploaded by using either a DTU (Data Transfer Unit) or Log Card (IR card & EL card). Data are viewed and managed using either a DTU or PC.
IR data transfer
Data transfer from/to ALV2 card lock is done via IR data
transmission technology.

By simply following the instructions provided through the display, 16 types of cards, including guest cards, master
cards, and sub-master cards, can be issued. Up to 32 card issuing terminals are interfaced with 1 PC-server.
Wide range of guests applicable
With flexible key card data capability, one key card for
several doors, such as fitness room, pool, and other facilities available.
Greater convenience by interfacing with PMS
Check-in procedures can be simplified by interfacing with
PMS (Property Management System). API (Application
Program Interface) is also available.
Card issuance management function
An authorization function makes it possible to limit card
issuance capability to only certain people, such as front
desk staffs. In addition, issuing logs are kept to show card
types, issue dates and times, issuing personnel, and issuing terminal. Issuing logs can be also printed.
Guest cards
Card designs are totally customizable. Putting the hotel logo, PR messages, or other communications on them can make guest cards into an effective PR medium.

The room number, check-in and check-out date are displayed on the app screen. (They can be hidden by changing the settings.) App screen

Note1: All management cards should be Mifare 4K medium. Please check the details for
each card medium in the table above to know which card medium to use for a particular type of card.
Note2: Mifare UL medium has no card access control functions. (Security level is similar
to magnetic stripe cards.)

– Only the guests with a valid card keycard will have access to the elevators / floors.
– Reader is designed to be built into elevator panel.
